We are back on track for a normal schedule week before we have our first holiday this year. Remember that there is no school on September 4, 2017 for Labor Day. I will encourage students to bring home an extra book this coming weekend. Here are some reminders for the week: 1. There are no lunch visits until after Labor Day. 2. Students should be coming home with logins and passwords for Front Row, Xtramath, Brain Pop, and other applications. I NEVER require them to complete these at home. They are optional at home. - - - In math, we continue with place value up to 100. The test went fairly well. I should have them graded by Friday. We read Diary of a Spider this week for RLA. Students typically enjoy this story! Thank you. -Mr. McDannald | Reminders: |

What a great first week! Now, the true second grade year can start. We have lots to learn this week, so here are some reminders below: 1. Please check folders daily and sign. 2. Please remember to send your student to the gym if you arrive between 7:45 and 8: 00 AM. The office keeps the front doors locked until 8:00 AM. Students will dismiss to breakfast from there if they choose to have it. 3. There are no lunch visits until after Labor Day. - - - We will start with Henry and Mudge for our first story from the reading series. The skills we focus on are sequencing events and identifying informational texts. In math, we dive straight into place value. We began with number patterns seen with even and odd numbers, now we now start working with the Base Ten system this week. Thank you! -Mr. McDannald | Reminder: |

Thank you for a great week! I really appreciate the communication I received last week. I felt it helped end-of-day go by smoother! Some reminders below: 1. I should be sending home a newsletter each week on the back of the DAS. 2. I also update my teacher website weekly. 3. If you have an important message to get to me, please send it through the office. You can use Class Dojo to message me, but I will not respond in great detail, or at all if it is something I need to complete. I will explain more at our parent meeting. 4. The parent meeting is Monday, August 7, 2017 at 5:00 PM in room 292. 5. Please send your student to the gym if you arrive between 7:45 and 8: 00 AM. The office keeps the front doors locked until 8:00 AM. 6. There are no lunch visits until after Labor Day. This helps get lunch routines down and allows for schedules to be finalized. - - - Please, if you have signed up for Class Dojo already, send me questions you would liked answered at the parent meeting. That way I can be prepared to answer them for you. Thank you! -Mr. McDannald | Reminder: |
Welcome to 2nd Grade at Fairmont! I cannot wait to get to know my students this year. I am going to try and keep communication up in many forms. 1. A newsletter and a daily assignment sheet (DAS) 2. A website: www.mrmcdannald.weebly.com (updated weekly) 3. Class Dojo and Bloomz - - - Students should be in the classroom by 8:15 a.m. Those who arrive between 7:45 and 8:00 a.m. should enter through the gym door. If they wish to eat breakfast, they should report to the cafeteria during that time. Students that arrive after 8:00 a.m. may enter through the front door. If your student arrives after 8:15 a.m., you will need to go to the office to sign him/her in. - - - If you have any questions or concerns, please bring those to my attention through one of my communication methods If you need to reach me while I am at school, then please call the office during my planning. We have planning at 9:45 a.m. —10:45 a.m. I will also try to return missed calls after school, so please leave a message with the office. I hope your student is as excited as I am to start off the new school year! Thank you for your time. -Mr. McDannald | Reminder: |
