I hope everyone had a great weekend. There are a lot of family events coming up in the next two months. Please check your blue Fairmont calendar for details. I hope to see many of you at the PTA night this week as well. The chorus and recorder groups will be preforming on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 6:30 pm. We continue Geometry this week. The primary skills we will be working on this week have to do with attributes of plane shapes. We will then partition shapes to start relating shapes to fractions. I believe we are looking to test on these skills next week. We will be focusing on fables and folktales during our reading unit. I have confirmed conference schedules with many of you. If you think you will be unable to attend, please let me know. I have homework club in my room until 4:30. For most of the conferences I will try to meet you in the front of the school. If you have any questions please let me know. Thank you. -Mr. McDannald | PTA will meet again on April 12, 2016 at 6:30 pm for the chorus and recorder performances. |
Math EQs: How do you use sides and angles to sort shapes? How do you find the area of rectangle? What are halves, thirds, and fourths? How do you know if a shape shows halves, thirds, or fourths?
Reading EQs: How do I demonstrate understanding of my vocabulary? How do I determine the moral of a folktale or fable? How do I write informational text to inform?
We are back to a normal week with using our text book for our reading lessons. Please remember to read the story with you student on Thursday in preparation for the test on Friday. We are reading the story The Goat in the Rug. This story is used to following steps in a procedure. We start Geometry this week. The students will be learning to identify and describe different shapes by their attributes. We will slowly work our way into fractions before completing all of our math standards. I feel that AR goals are off to a great start. Thank you for all your help at home. I know many of you are working on asking comprehension questions after reading the AR books with your student. That extra time is making the world of difference the next morning. I apologize for not getting a conference schedule out last week. I will try to get one prepared this week. Again, if you know a time that is best for you, please let me know so I can work my schedule around that. Thank you! -Mr. McDannald | PTA will meet again on April 12, 2016 at 6:30 pm for the chorus and recorder performances. |
