I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Holiday. I sent home some bonus work and extra books last week. I hope that the students did not stress too much about the bonus packet. Most of them seemed excited to have the extra work to take home. In the math book, we will be working on 3-digit addition and subtraction strategies until the end of the 9-weeks. The students have been doing well with 2-digit addition and subtraction so far. I felt that the students did a grand job on the last test. We will be going back to our reading series until the end of the 9-weeks as well. This week our story is about schools in other countries. Our target skill will be main idea with supporting details. Spelling and grammar tie in this week. We will be working on irregular plural nouns. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at the school. Have a fantastic week. -Mr. McDannald | Don’t forget to place your orders for the Fairmont Yearbook! |

We accomplished many things last week even with it being an abbreviated week. It was a pleasure getting to spend time with some of you to discuss the successes and goals pertaining to your child. If you didn’t get to meet with me, please call the school and leave a message to arrange a time I can have a phone conference. We continue 2-digit subtraction this week. We struggled with decomposing a ten into ten ones last week. We are slowing down a little so that I can make sure that everyone knows what borrowing means in 2-digit subtraction. We will practice writing a friendly letter this week. It is always an interesting process with the letter writing. I hope you get to see some of those Friday. We will send home progress reports Wednesday. Please pay attention to your child’s AR percent correct. Have a great week. -Mr. McDannald | Reminder: |

We had a great day last Friday. The students were very productive even with all the events that went on. I want to remind everyone that the students do not go to school on November 3, 2015. The teachers are having Parent-Teacher Conferences that day. If you put down to receive a phone call conference, please be expecting a call on Tuesday. I should be making phone calls after lunch. We start 2-digit subtraction this week. We will follow a similar format with breaking down tens before teaching borrowing. The students did a great job with the 2-digit addition test. I will finish grading those next week. We read about jellyfish in our reading series. We will also start working on proper nouns during grammar time. We are already getting close to mid-term reports. You should be seeing those on November 11, 2015. I hope everyone had a great weekend. Let me know if you have any questions. -Mr. McDannald | Reminder: |
