We had a busy week last week. I hope the students shared some of the neat things we have been doing in class. I am trying to get students to start taking ownership in mastering their standards each week. This means that students will be slightly more interested in assignment outcomes. We only have a few more weeks until Spring Break and the end of our 9-weeks. This week we will be doing some reviews and assessments for next week’s Checkpoints. We finish customary units of measurement in math, and then we start on metric units to finish off the 9-weeks. Our opinion writing this week will have to do with being a good friend. We are getting close to the end of the 9-weeks, so please encourage the nightly AR time. I have removed Math homework this week to assist in extra reading time! Thank you, Mr. McDannald | Reminder: |
Math EQs: What are my customary units of measurement? How do I estimate inches, feet, and yards? How do I use the correct measuring tool with measuring?

We had a great time last week. The Valentine’s Day party was great. The students really enjoyed the fruit and exchanging their Valentines. We will be starting on measurement of lengths this week in math. We tested online with telling time to the nearest 5 minutes. If you would like those scores, please let me know. I can print a report for you. We are trying ways to move towards a paperless classroom, so we have had many of our tests completed online at the computer. As we do measurement, homework becomes more difficult without rulers and manipulatives. I will be sending these things home on homework night, please make sure they come back the next day. If you have any questions, please let me know! Thank you, Mr. McDannald | Reminder: |
Math EQs: How do measure lengths using nonstandard and standard units of measurement? What are my customary units of measurement?
Reading EQs: How do I determine meaning of my vocabulary? How do I compare/contrast characters in a story? How do I write to support my opinion?
Please see paper version of newsletter this week. Thank you!
